Fired August 1st

Kids pieces were painted with red iron oxide to create the designs, but most of the red iron oxide designs disappeared in the fire.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Randi Lile: The saggar was filled the same from top to bottom with rock salt, fine steel wool, copper sulfate and luncheon meat (ham). Note the change in color from pink at the top of the saggar to black/grey at the bottom.

Dawn Atkin:  Steel wool, copper scrub pad, salted coffee, sawdust, individual grains of MiracleGro directly on the pot.  This was done to prevent the "glaze" of MiracleGro from last week, but it still fluxed the steel wool/copper creating sharp crusties.  (NOTE: a small test tile was done with MiracleGro only and it was just clear.)

Lovely high gloss black from polished Ball Clay Terra Sig completely covered in packed fine sawdust.  The detail square shows the high reflective quality.
